A Alpha Academy Spell it once
NATO / ICAO phonetic alphabet · iPhone

Spell it once.
Be heard the first time.

Alpha Academy trains the one skill nobody teaches you: reading a code out loud so the other end gets it right. Booking references, email addresses, passport series, tracking numbers — letter by letter, in order, without being asked to repeat.

Alfa
AL-FAH

Spelled with an f so it survives every accent — never “Alpha” on the radio.

The moment this is for

You are on the phone. One hand. Half a second.

Every other trainer is a study screen you read sitting down. The real moment is mid-call — the agent is waiting, you are three letters into a confirmation code and “S as in… Sierra?” is already too slow. Alpha Academy is built backwards from that moment: the chart is a primary surface, not a cheat sheet, and the drills use real strings instead of isolated letters.

How it trains

Four moves from “A as in… apple?” to fluent.

1

Learn the plate

Each letter arrives on a light card: the glyph, the code word, a respelled pronunciation key and one line on why the word is what it is. Tap to hear it spoken.

2

Drill both directions

Letter to word and word back to letter. Each symbol carries its own mastery level, and the app schedules what you are about to forget instead of what you already know.

3

Read a real string

Encode a booking reference or an email address in order, or listen to one being spelled and write down what you heard. This is the exercise the rest of the app exists to feed.

4

Keep it warm

A Daily Drill built from your weak letters plus one string, and an optional reminder at a time you choose. Two minutes a day holds the whole chart.

Practice modes

Six ways in, one skill out.

Study

Cards with audio

The plate, the pronunciation key and the mnemonic. Spoken on tap, at a speed you set.

Letter → Word

See a letter, call the word

The direction you need when you are the one spelling.

Word → Letter

Hear a word, write the letter

The direction you need when someone is spelling to you.

Encode a string

Spell it out, in order

A real reference from one of six scenario sets. Order counts — one letter out of place and the code is wrong.

Decode by ear

Listen, then write it down

The hardest mode, and the one that transfers. Replay costs you.

Speed mode

Sixty seconds. Build a combo.

The only place a timer belongs. A run of right answers multiplies what each one is worth.

Scenario sets

The strings you actually read out loud.

Encode and Decode draw from six sets, each with its own shapes and its own difficulty. You are never spelling nonsense.

Flight Numbers

Airline code plus number, as read at the gate.

Hotel Bookings

Confirmation references from booking systems.

Email Addresses

Where mis-hearing one letter costs the whole message.

Serial Numbers

Device and warranty codes read to a support agent.

Passport & Documents

Document series and numbers, letter by letter.

Tracking Codes

Parcel references — long, mixed, unforgiving.

Three alphabets

Switch the set, keep your progress.

Default

NATO / ICAO

The international aviation and maritime standard. Alfa through Zulu, plus the digits.

Historical

Able Baker

The WWII Allied military and aviation set. Four of its words survived into the modern chart.

US dispatch

Law Enforcement

The set used by US police and dispatch, where Adam and Boy replace Alfa and Bravo.

The chart

Always one tap away.

A full reference table you can reach mid-call — every symbol, its code word and how to say it. Searchable, and it never hides behind a session.

Your record

Mastery per symbol, not one blunt score.

Every letter and digit carries its own level from 0 to 5. Answer it right and it moves up and gets scheduled further out; miss it and it comes back tomorrow. The chart fills in as you go.
